This site is a few pages of text. There are no accounts, no forms and no cookies, so most of what a privacy notice usually has to explain does not happen here.

What is kept on your device

Nothing. No cookies, no local storage, no identifier of any kind. That is also why there is no consent banner on the way in: under § 25 TDDDG consent is needed for storing things on your device, and nothing is stored.

Server logs

Serving a page means receiving a request, and a request carries your IP address, the time, the page you asked for, your browser string and the page you came from. Cloudflare hosts this site and records these in order to deliver it and to defend it against attack, which is the legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Cloudflare acts as a processor under contract; its network is worldwide, so a request may be handled outside the EU on the basis of the standard contractual clauses.

Counting visits

Each page view is counted: the page you opened, the page you came from, any parameters in the link, and your browser string. Nothing is written to your device, so this counts visits rather than people and nobody is recognised on a second one. The count is sent to narufield.com, which I also operate, and is stored in the EU. Legal basis Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — knowing whether anyone reads this.

Served from this site. Your browser makes no request to Google or anyone else in order to render this page.

Writing to me

The address here is contact.jfortner (at) proton.me, which is a Proton mailbox in Switzerland — a country the Commission has found to offer an adequate level of protection. What you write is used to answer you and for nothing else.

Your rights

You can ask what is held about you, have it corrected or erased, have its use restricted, object to it, or receive it in a portable form (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). You can also complain to a supervisory authority — for me that is the Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg.
